Everyone can already feel the cool breeze of fresh air in the morning. Christmas Carols can now be heard when the sun sets. The different endorsements of commercial hams can now be seen in our televisions. These things makes us remember that Christmas season is nearing. Or should I say, ITS CHRISTMAS! Our year wouldn’t be complete without this yuletide season.
Filipinos towards Christmas is truly one of a kind. Aside from giving ‘aguinaldos’, there is a lot more. Here in the Philippines, Filipinos are pulling out their Christmas decorations starting from the month of September. Other government structures are starting to decorate the streets, highways and national roads with twinkling Christmas lights which captures our eyes. And of course, vendors selling puto bong-bong and bibingka will dominate once again the joyful streets. Another undying tradition is the Noche Buena. Succulent lechon and ham will be served once more in our table during Christmas Eve.
Every December, our schedules will be filled with different Christmas parties. From our offices, schools, churches and down to our relatives. Gifts is also the much awaited part during this yuletide season. Sharing is one of the essence this Christmas. As they say, To give is much better than to receive. But the thing that really defines Christmas is LOVE. Spreading love throughout our friends, families and to our enemies. The unexpensive gift yet the most priceless is by giving and expressing our love to our countrymen and God. This is the time for peace and harmony. Distorted feelings will be fixed. Burdens will be replaced by calmness.
Its so sad that kids of today’s generation seldom asks about Santa. Parents should let their children understand the major major essence of Christmas. Now a days, CHRISTmas Season is being replaced by Santa Claus. They usually talk about Santa than the true reason for this season— Jesus Christ.
May everyone find the real definition of Christmas. Happy Holidays! Cheers!
